Fall Break Part 1

I wish I was still on Fall Break. It was so much fun. The weather could not have been more perfect. We arrived at the Hodge Lodge on Thursday where it didn't take long to try out PaPa's new golf car.Oh, yes, this golf car was worth the money (luckily, my parent's). Adding that back seat meant this thing could hold six people! And that doesn't include babies on laps. Jacob quickly asked if he could try driving and PaPa, always the confident driver's ed teacher, agreed. We were all impressed with how well he did. No, he was never allowed to drive without an adult, but I was very comfortable in the passenger seat with him. Jacob drove me around the block and ran over a snake. We stopped to take a picture:
Kendal, Bea, and the kids arrived later in the day. We set up a tent (which became only a place to play, not to sleep as originally planned). Thank goodness Laila was there to help...

In Fall Break Part 2 you will hear how the tent became Mission Headquarters for our brave young men at the Hodge Lodge.

Of course, we had to go to the water a few times to check things out. There was no lack of rocks to throw or skip across the water. Kendal cleared out brush from the fire pit to make ample room for weenie roasts and s'more making. He set that stuff ablaze. As Jacob told a "neighbor" that was there helping with the lawn, "Uncle Kendal likes to make fires!" Promptly followed by mom saying, "Oh... well... he's not an arsonist or anything."

Part 2 coming soon...stay tuned.
